AQS Environmental Solutions has sponsored local up-and-coming soccer club Slieveardagh United – one of the fastest improving amateur teams in Ireland.
The club, which plays its home matches at Ballingarry Community Field, The Commons, was only founded in 2013. Yet has risen from Division 4 to Division 1 in the Tipperary Southern and District League (TSDL).
Last season, Slieveardagh United was dubbed the “ultimate underdogs” for reaching the final of the Tipperary Cup while playing in the TSDL Division 2, losing a hard-fought match to Division 1’s Clonmel Town.
This season, Slieveardagh United has won promotion to TSDL Division 1, and AQS Environmental Solutions has sponsored its end of season celebration, and its Player of the Year Award, won by John Pollard.
The club was founded by its player-manager David Cashin, who is also a jet vac tanker driver at AQS Environmental Solutions, a drainage, industrial cleaning, and organic waste management specialist, based at Thurles, Co Tipperary.
David’s brother, John Paul Cashin, a health and safety trainer at AQS, is the club’s assistant manager.
AQS Environmental Solutions Commercial Director Stan O’Reilly said: “We have two great reasons to help the players and backroom team at Slieveardagh United mark their success.
“Firstly, they are a local team which is supporting sporting success in the community. That can only be a good thing, in terms of encouraging all of us to get out there to enjoy sport and stay fit.
“Secondly, two of our own people, David and John Paul, have been instrumental in founding the club and taking it on an amazing journey, and we want to support members of our team who work so hard for the local community.
“Slieveardagh United’s success is an inspiration. It shows what a small team of people can do when they’re all working together for a common cause. We wish them well for next season, and a strong tilt at the Division 1 title!”
AQS Environmental Solutions is delighted to announce it has achieved ISO 9001:2015, the business quality management system standard.
AQS Environmental Solutions has led a project working with specialist partners to clean, disinfect, and repair a major supply reservoir using advanced technologies that enhance safety and quality assurance.
A robotic cleaning system has been used to remove waste from the floor of a reservoir without having to take it offline. AQS Environmental Solutions carried out the work, commissioned within the Southern Regional RRP Programme in 2018.
