AQS Environmental Solutions Technical Director Rónán Beasley has joined a party of colleagues on a charity climb through the night to the summit of Snowdon in Wales.
He was one of 22 people who too part in the climb up Wales’ highest mountain to fundraise for the Five in Five programme run by AQS parent company Lanes Group plc.
The night owl mountaineers reached the 3,560 ft summit in time to watch a new day dawn before returning to the foot of the mountain for a well-earned breakfast.
Rónán said: “It was a very enjoyable trek and it was great to join colleagues from across Lanes for such a worthwhile cause. While it was a tough heave to the top, the craic was still mighty.
“I love the great outdoors, so I like nothing more than climbing a decent mountain, even in the dark. The chance to see the sunrise from the summit was magical, and the breakfast even better!”
It is hoped sponsorship raised by participants in the climb will raise €5,500 for Lanes’ Five in Five programme, with the company matching the amount raised pound for pound.
The company is supporting five charities chosen by staff over five years. They are the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, Mind, The Stroke Association, The Sick Children’s Trust, and Sarcoidosis UK.
